35 PHOTOS: Who knew giant pumpkins and watermelons could bring such joy

On Saturday, the streets of Kyogle were filled with people, pumpkins and a row of large watermelons.

It could only be the Giant Pumpkin and Watermelon Festival.

It rained, it was sunny, it rained again — yet the weather added excitement to the day.

There were many from out of town and when IndyNR.com spoke to people from Evans Head, Casino, Brisbane and Nambucca Heads — they couldn’t praise Kyogle enough.

The event is a credit to the organisers — a small group of people who create a festival around big vegetables.
