The Lions Club of Casino celebrated 70 years this week.

More than 40 Lions Club members were at the 70th anniversary dinner on Wednesday, October 26 at the Casino RSM Club.

Special guests Richmond Valley mayor Robert Mustow and State MP Chris Gulaptis joined the celebration.

Past Lions Club of Casino members and members from the Lismore Lions Club helped eat the cake cut by the longest serving member Lionel Frame and the two newest members, Gary May and Robyn Cooper. Lionel has been a Lion since 1985.

At the end of the evening Brian Johnston from the Lismore Lions Club presented the Lions baton to Casino Lion’s president Stephen Humphrys.

This baton is passed to another Lions Club within 30 days.

Casino Lions is known for helping build the chapel at the hospital, Coronation Park at the Drill Hall and for supporting Paige Humphrys and her family with ongoing health issues. The club runs a weekly farmers market and has supported flood impacted people with water pumps, fridges and other household items.
