‘ABOUT BLOODY TIME’: State MP applauds inclusion of all areas in flood disaster funding

Susanna Freymark

State MP Janelle Saffin announced that the local government areas of Kyogle, Tweed, Byron and Ballina Shire were now eligible for the Federal Government’s extra disaster relief funding.

‘About bloody time,” Ms Saffin wrote on her Facebook page.

This means residents in those areas will receive two additional payments of $1,000 per adult and $400 per child as do residents in Richmond Valley, Clarence Valley and Lismore LGAs.

“It was outrageous that these communities who have been devastated by floods were excluded in the first place. Great news for our community but about time from the government,” Ms Saffin said.

Flood impacted residents can find out more about eligibility and payment at Services Australia.
