Woodenbong RFS members and others farewelled Dave Tucker as Group 7 West captain at a recent meeting.
Dave first stepped into the role of deputy group captain in 2001, serving in that capacity until 2010, when he was promoted to group captain.
After 25 years in the highest senior volunteer position in the district, Dave has officially stepped down.
He will remain in the RFS as senior deputy captain of the Bonalbo Brigade – with (allegedly) more spare time, Dave said.
In the RFS, the role of group captain carries significant operational and leadership responsibilities.
Throughout his service, Dave has led from the front, mentored countless volunteers, and provided calm, experienced guidance during some of our most challenging times, the Woodenbong fire captain Shaun Green said.
“On behalf of all members, we thank Dave for his exceptional service, leadership, and friendship. Your legacy will be felt for many years to come.”
Barry Morgan is the new group captain for the district.
