Everyone loves a bargain and when you buy stuff from the new op shop in Evans Head, you’re helping look after dogs and cats.
The Northern Rivers Animal Services charity shop on Canberra Road, Evans Head, opened today, Saturday, April 5.
NRAS vice president Belinda Seaton said they had about 70 customers in the first hour of opening today.
The self funded animal rescue charity uses money made at the op shop to rehome cats and dogs.
The animal shelter is in Ballina next to another op shop. The shop in Evans is only the second op shop in Evans Head with Vinnies in the centre of town.
”We’ve been wanting to open a second shop for a while,” Belinda said.
The charity is run mostly by volunteers who help with the rescue and rehoming of pets.
The money raised at the two op shops goes towards subsidising desexing and provide care for dogs and cats wanting to be adopted.

”We really need foster carers,” Belinda said.
The charity pays for food, vet bills and whatever the foster pet needs until adopted.
”We make it as easy as possible,” she said.
The NRAS op shop in Evans Head takes donations but only at specific times — do not leave goods at the shop when closed.
