The scholarship is for first-year 2023 university and TAFE students who are direct descendants of an Australian or New Zealand serviceman or woman who served in a conflict or peacekeeping operation from World War I to the present day.

The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund was founded in 1996 from donations from a World War I Veterans Association.
The scholarship provides financial assistance to the most deserving Australian applicants starting their first year of tertiary study next year.
