Early this morning in Casino, residents reported a loud bang.

Black smoke could be seen in the sky between Oak Ave and Hotham St at about 5.45am on Thursday, October 27.

There was a loud bang and then smoke, residents said.

Casino Fire and Rescue brigade headed to Elsmer Jones Park where a white ute was on fire.

Jordan Lynn took the photo below of the car engulfed in flames.

The explosion and bang residents heard was most likely from the tyres exploding, which is very common in car fires, a crew member said.

The car was destroyed.

It took the fire crew about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.

This is the fourth car fire in the same park in the last fortnight.

Police are investigating the fire and said it was likely the car was stolen
