A lot of people including racegoers are disappointed about the decision to move Friday’s Beef Week Cup to Lismore Racecourse.

Casino Race Club president John Walker said the club was “extremely disappointed that Racing NSW deemed it necessary to transfer the Beef Week race meeting from Casino to Lismore”.

“The Casino track has been under renovation for some months and stewards believed that two small parts of the course would not sustain racing on Friday and the track could become unsafe,” Mr Walker said.

In 2022, the Beef Week Cup race was moved to Inverell because of wet weather.

“It is a significant financial blow to the club who were unable to conduct last year’s cup meeting following major flooding that occurred and have been unable to race this year because of the work on the track,” he said.

Venues in Casino are coming forward with plans to include Fashions on the Field for all those planning to show off their outfits on race day.

The Commercial Hotel Casino will be awarding prizes for Best Dressed and Best Millinery on Friday, May 26

A complimentary glass of bubbly will be given to selected early arrivals who are dressed in racewear or as a Star of the Screen – the theme for this year’s Beef Week.

There is live music from TEAK, Nicky Convine and the Whiskey Mountain Boys on the night.

The race can be watched on TAB screens at the pub.

The Tatts Hotel, Casino has live music on Friday night from 5pm with Blinders Band of Rock and Glenn Massey performing.

Charcoal Inn in South Casino has Cath Simes performing from 6pm.

Teak Fairfull are at the Cecil Hotel at 8pm.

Other venues may also do a special race day event for those wanting to celebrate the Beef Week Cup in Casino.
