Eighty university students visited the villages of Wiangaree and Bonalbo to give them a Big Lift.

The University of Technology students from Sydney volunteered yesterday, Thursday, July 7 with 40 going to each village.

In Wiangaree, they worked at Wiangaree Public School, painting exterior panels, weeding, gardening and did general cleaning up of the sports shed and music room.

In Bonalbo, the students helped at Bonalbo Central School with cleaning, gardening, clearing graffiti, painting and planting. They did a general clean up around the village gazebo too.

Bonalbo Central School staff said the pruning, weeding, cleaning and tidying up was made a real difference to school grounds.

“We are very grateful for their service and kindness.”

The Big Lift is founded on the philosophy of Pay It Forward. It gives university students the chance to visit and help in rural towns in NSW and Queensland.

This trip was Big Lift’s 12th time on the nine-day journey from the city to the country.

The trip was postponed in 2020 and 2021 because of covid lockdowns.
