Bright young things run away with music and make-up talents January 29, 2022 Susanna Freymark Cathy Freeman inspired Chanel Montiel to run. The former Bonalbo Central School student was awarded Sportsperson of the Year at Bonalbo’s Australia Day presentations for her competitive running. She was thrilled, but it was her brother Michael O’Meara-Pyefinch who sang her praises. “She was always on her feet, she could run before she crawled,” Michael said. Chanel definitely likes to run long distances. She also has an unusual interest in realistic horror makeup. Chanel created this horror wound with make-up. See her Instagram account for more @_chanel._.makeup24_ She started by watching a You Tube video and then created a bruise on her eye using make-up. “Everyone in the family thought it was real,” Chanel said. Then she started ‘making’ wounds, scars and bleeding fingers using make-up. Recently, Chanel was invited onto the set of Love and Monsters where she met Rick Finlay who did the make-up for the Avatar characters. She met the make-up artist who worked on the film Avatar. Michael is also a Bonalbo Central School student and he is celebrating achieving a HSC Band 6 for music. Band 6 is the highest score possible. The singer guitarist begins a music production course at SAE in Byron Bay next month. These bright, young things from Bonalbo have left the village they know and moved to Bangalow.
