They were a long way from Kyogle. Three Kyogle High School students were independently competing at the Ekka this week.
The Royal Queensland Ekka is the largest show event in Queensland running for nine days from August 10–18 and attracting crowds of up to 400,000.
The students from Kyogle have already made their mark.
Mia Mackay, 13, from Diamond Downs Charolais Kyogle, came first in stud beef paraders in the 13 year old and under category. She paraded a heifer from CB Charolais, Delungra . Mia went on to be in the top four paraders at Ekka 2024.
Twelve year old Clay Dorey came fourth in stud beef paraders in the same category as Mia. Clay represented Mogul Brahmans. This class had more than 50 competitors so Clay did well.
Rhani Dorey, 15, came second in stud beef parader in the 14–15 year old category. She also represented Mogul Brahmans Casino.
Congratulations Mia, Clay and Rhani. Other students in the region were at the Ekka too.
