There is a change to the Beef Week program this year. The cattle competition is now a four-day event.

The biggest change is moving the Steer Show and auctions to Beef Week Wednesday.

This allows the showing of the highest quality steers while meeting the National MSA Framework time frame.

The Juniors and Steer Shows will be held in Barker St on Wednesday, May 25 from 1-7pm.

This will be followed by the main event – the showing of more than 30 Led Steers from as far west as Wilsons Downfall and south to Maclean.

Casino stock and station agents will host the first Casino Twilight Steer Auction where the steers will enter the ring to be auctioned off by carcase weight.

Auctioneers include George & Fuhrmann, Ramsey & Bulmer, Ray White Rural Casino and T&W McCormack.

The four-day Cattle Spectacular includes the Department of Primary Industry Youth Education Day on Thursday, the Carcass Judging and Food Co-op tour on Friday and finishing off with the Stud Show on the Super Saturday of Beef Week.

The Cattle Spectacular is the biggest cattle event held in the 40 years of Casino Beef Week with $25,000 prize money.

And there will still be cattle on Saturday, May 28 in the Casino CBD.

Stud breeders will have the opportunity show what our region has to offer.

Beef Week committee member Tony Dean said there was nearly twice as much prize money available in the Stud Show than in previous years.

“Saturday is the opportunity for our stud breeders to take centre stage and showcase their studs and breeds to the world,” Mr Dean said.

Schools who want to be involved in the Youth Education Day can contact the Beef Week Office to register.

While the Led Steer entries have closed, cattle producers who want to enter the stud cattle can visit the Casino Beef Week website.
