At about 11am yesterday, Monday, April 14, emergency services were called to a home on Irwin Street, Kyogle after reports a man was injured.
Police arrived and found a 49 year old man unconscious with assault injuries.
The man was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.
After inquiries, police arrested a 56 year old man on Highfield Road, Kyogle, at about 4.30pm the same day.
He was taken to Casino Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.
Police will allege in court that the 56 year old assaulted the 49 year old on Sunday, April 13 after an argument.
Police believe the men knew each other.
The man was refused bail and he faces Casino Local Court today, Tuesday, April 15.
