New kerbside charging stations for electric cars have been set up in Casino and Evans Head.
EVX Australia installed the two-socket stations at 154 Canterbury Street, Casino, opposite the Civic Hall, and on Woodburn Street, Evans Head last week.
The 22-kilowatt charging station is mounted on a power pole and can charge two cars at the same time. Drivers must have their own cable for charging.
EVX chief executive Andrew Forster from Sydney said the kerbside chargers are easy to use.
There is an app to download where drivers can pay for the power.
The chargers are Level 2 and typically take $20-$25 to fully power a car.
The chargers are not the fast ones, but Mr Forster said that can be an advantage to the towns where the chargers are located, as drivers can plug in and visit the area.
More chargers are coming up and down the coast, he said, including Ballina, Byron and Coffs Harbour.
“We plan to go out west as more chargers are rolled out.”
There is a demand for more charging stations,, Mr Forster said.
There are more than 100 chargers in NSW.
