Clear answer emerges in Kyogle referendum vote

With 4980 votes counted out of a possible 6840, the No to the referendum question for Kyogle LGA is way ahead.

So far, there have been 1738 votes for a yes and 3057 No votes.

Below is a reminder of the question residents were asked at the council election.

With 63.75% of the votes a No — it’s unlikely that trend will change after the remaining votes are counted.

There were 185 informal referendum votes.

The convoluted style of question with the change in wards included with how to elect a mayor made the referendum question confusing.

When the new council begins with some old and some new councillor faces, they will vote on who will be mayor.
