Local nbn upgrades to the fibre and fixed wireless networks are about to happen in the Kyogle LGA with community info sessions being held this month in Kyogle, Wiangaree and Mallanganee (see end of story for dates).
More than 813 homes and businesses in Kyogle and Geneva are eligible for the upgrade to the local Fixed Wireless network under the government’s Fixed Wireless Upgrade Program.
nbn are upgrading to full fibre which nbn has said delivers a range of benefits for customers compared to copper connections.
The benefits include smoother video calls, enhanced streaming, quicker response times for gaming, and the ability to connect more devices simultaneously including smart TVs, home security systems, and smart home technology, nbn said.
To upgrade to full fibre, eligible new and existing customers must place an order for an eligible high-speed plan (at least 100 Mbps download) through a participating provider.
nbn have also rolled out a significant enhancement to the Fixed Wireless network.
In locations including Bonalbo, Wiangaree and Mallanganee this means better connectivity.
Speeds have been significantly boosted with Fixed Wireless Home Fast now available to about 90% of the expanded Fixed Wireless footprint and is expected to offer peak wholesale speeds of about 200-250/8-20 Mbps.
To help customers understand and take advantage of the completed upgrades, the nbn team will be visiting the region and hosting information sessions for the community.
