At the July 14 Kyogle Council meeting, councillor Brett McNamara said residents had been asking about the state of Kyogle’s pools.
The water is looking green in some of the pools.
Council staff said for a typical year where no maintenance or renewal work is being done, the council would normally run a reduced operational regime that minimises cost of electricity and chemicals while the pool was closed for winter.
This can make the pool water turn green.
“A few weeks before the beginning of the new season, the pools are kicked back into full operational mode, and the water clears, ready for the new season.”
With the addition of repair work happening at Kyogle and Woodenbong pools, all operations have ceased, causing the water to turn dark green.
Staff said that when the renewal and repair work is complete, the pools will return to being fully operational.
