
Richmond Valley Council announced the community groups that received funding in the latest round of the Community Financial Assistance Program.
The $37,766 went to these groups:
Bentley Public Hall Trust $1500 to address building subsidence at the back of the hall by funding materials with volunteers to perform the repairs.
Broadwater Community Hall $2387 to purchase a projector and portable screen to support hall activities, including business meetings, community events, and movie nights.
Casino Rodeo & Campdraft Association $1500 to install floodlights in the back cattle yards and campdraft cut-out yard to improve visibility and safety at the Casino Showground.
Casino Senior Citizens Centre $3000 to provide subsidised bus trips and social events for local seniors to enhance the social and mental wellbeing of aged community members in the Casino area.
Casino Town Tennis Club $3000 to professionally clean and maintain six artificial turf courts by deep cleaning, redistributing sand, and extending the surface lifespan for safe play.
Cycling Without Age – Casino chapter $4000 to buy safety equipment to enable older people and those with disabilities to participate in trishaw rides on the Rail Trail.
Ellangowan Public Hall Trust $3235 to replace the deteriorating wooden tank stand with a durable base and install a 22,500L water tank at the hall to increase capacity and improve reliability.
Fairy Hill Hall $4000 to install childproof fencing at the hall to improve safety and attract family-oriented bookings.
Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre $3648 on Behalf of Broadwater Community-led Resilience Team to expand the UHF radio network with the purchase of 10 additional radios and provide training to enhance disaster preparedness and communication with vulnerable residents in the Broadwater area.
Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre $3696 to support a youth art installation and improve accessibility to the community garden shed by levelling concrete floors at the new MRNC Coraki space.
Pacific Coast Railway Society Inc $2530 to replace a termite-damaged beam in the train shed to ensure structural safety and preserve a popular family activity.
The Evans Head Living Museum $3070 to digitise and preserve oral history interviews and make them accessible through a touchscreen computer.
The Nurtured Village – Northern Rivers $1500 to provide hampers and mental health resources to new mothers in the Richmond Valley LGA and host events to reduce isolation and enhance maternal mental wellbeing.
Woodburn Business and Community Chamber $700 to purchase office supplies and equipment to support, member engagement and foster business growth in Woodburn.
An annual donation of $5000 went to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
