COVID: 1154 cases in Northern Rivers, 78 in Richmond Valley

Today in the Northern Rivers 1154 new covid cases were reported.

Northern NSW Local Health District said there were 42 covid patients in hospital in with six of these in ICU.

The new cases are located in the following LGAs:

Richmond Valley 78

Kyogle 6

Clarence Valley 54

Tweed Heads 641

Byron Shire 171

Ballina 106

Lismore 96

Tenterfield  2

(Tenterfield is in a different Local Health District, but postcodes put cases in NNSWLHD)

Across NSW there were 45,098 new covid cases reported. NSW Public Health is only recording the number of covid cases reported through PCR testing. Positive cases from Rapid Antigen Tests will not be recorded until next week so case numbers will be higher than actually reported today.

NSW reported the death of nine people from covid today.

There are currently 1,795 covid cases admitted to hospital with 145 people in intensive care, 40 of whom require ventilation.
