COVID: 20,148 cases in NSW, 800 in Northern Rivers

There were 800 new covid cases reported in the Northern Rivers today.

This included 460 positive PCR tests and 340 positive rapid antigen tests.

There were two covid deaths in the Northern NSW Health District. Both were men in their 80s – one from Ballina and the other from Pottsville.

There are 39 covid patients in hospital in Northern NSW, with five of these in ICU.

The PCR tested covid cases were in these LGAs:

Richmond Valley 31

Kyogle 7

Clarence Valley 44

Lismore 26

Ballina 47

Byron  59

Tweed 246

Across the state, there were 20,148 positive test results for covid.

This included 8,566 positive rapid antigen tests and 11,582 positive PCR tests.

Thirty people died; one person was aged in their 50s, seven people were aged in their 70s, 15 people were aged in their 80s and seven people were aged in their 90s.

Four people had received three doses of a covid vaccine, 16 people had received two doses, one person had received one dose and nine people were not vaccinated.
