NSW reported 18,278 new covid cases today, down from more than 21,000 yesterday.
NSW Health said the number of people in hospital is what matters in terms of how the state deals with covid.
In NSW, 1066 people are in hospital with covid and 83 of these are in ICU.
There were 322 covid cases reported for the Northern Rivers today.

There are 17 covid patients in hospital in Northern NSW, with four of these in ICU.

Testing capacity in NSW is under enormous pressure and the only people getting a PCR (nose and throat swab) should be those who have covid symptoms, live in a household with a confirmed covid-positive case or have been advised by NSW Health to get tested.
