UPDATE: Five new covid cases: two in Richmond Valley, two in Kyogle

Of the 477 new cases reported in NSW overnight, five are from Northern NSW Local Health District.

Two are in the Richmond Valley LGA, two in the Kyogle LGA and one in the Ballina LGA.

One of the cases in the Richmond Valley is a household contact of a previous case, the source of the other infections is under investigation.

There were six deaths across the state.

Northern NSW has had 69 cases confirmed since June 16, when the current Delta outbreak began in Sydney.

There have been 62,847 locally acquired cases reported since June 16.

There are currently 794 covid  cases admitted to hospital, with 159 people in intensive care, 76 of whom require ventilation.

NSW has reached a 90% vaccination rate with residents aged over-16 having received their first dose covid vaccination.
