COVID UPDATE: Northern Rivers 695 tally includes PCR and RATs

There were 695 new covid cases in the Northern Rivers today.

The results were from 317 positive PCR tests and 378 positive rapid antigen tests.

There were two deaths. One person was from the Tweed Shire and one was from the Byron Shire, both were in their 80s.

There are 44 covid patients in hospital in Northern NSW, with five of these in ICU.

There were 17,316 covid cases reported across NSW today.

This brings the total number of covid related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,198.

There are currently 2,722 covid cases admitted to hospital, including 181 people in intensive care, 72 of whom require ventilation.
