Two new covid cases were reported for the Northern Rivers today.
One of these cases is in the Byron area and is a household contact of an existing case.
The other case is in the Ballina LGA and is under investigation.
All seven Local Government Areas in Northern NSW have reached a 80% vaccination target.
Northern NSW Local Health District’s Wayne Jones said each person who is vaccinated against covid not only reduces their own risk of ending up in hospital or dying from the virus but they are helping others around them by reducing the chances they’ll pass on the infection to others who may be more vulnerable.
LGA rates for people aged 15 and over who are fully vaccinated:
-
Richmond Valley 89.4%
-
Kyogle 88%
-
Clarence Valley 91.6%
-
Lismore 88.8%
-
Ballina 94.5%
-
Byron 80.9%
-
Tweed 85.5%
