There were 1700 head yarded at the NRLX in Casino today, Wednesday, September 3.
The offering of young cattle consisted mainly of weaners, along with a small number of yearlings.
The market varied considerably reflecting the range in quality. A few pens of well presented weaner steers and heifers equaled last weeks prices, however the largest percentage of weaners were 10c to 15c/kg cheaper.
An odd pen of light well bred weaner steers topped at 626c although most of the restocker weaner steers sold from 420c to 550c with the medium weights averaging 514c/kg.
Restocker weaner heifers sold from 318c to 450c/kg.
Yearling steers to restock topped at 518c,while feeder heifers sold to 430c/kg.
Grown steers were in limited supply, steers to feed toped at 414c/kg.
Grown heifers to process sold to 402c/kg.
The cow market improved again this week with most cows selling 10c to 15c/kg dearer.
Light 2 score cows sold from 260c to 328c.
Medium weight 2 score cows sold from 315c to 352c, while 3 scores averaged 367c/kg.
The 4 score cows ranged from 378c to 402c/kg.
Heavy bulls reached a top price of 380c/kg.
