Crews extinguish burning excavator and use blowers on bushfire

Fire crews rushed to an excavator on fire at Ellangowan yesterday, December 28.

When the Casino RFS arrived at about 4pm, the Ellangowan Rural Fire Brigade was already cooling the machine. The Casino crew started cooling the machine with the monitor while crews set up lines to extinguish the fire.

Unfortunately, the excavator was destroyed.

The excavator was destroyed by the fire.

That night at 8pm, Casino 1 and 7 units attended a bushfire on Tuckerbox Road, Bora Ridge.

Tomki and Woodburn RFS crews joined them.

Crews got to work with backpack blowers until heavy plant machinery arrived to get around the fire in the bush.

The fire on Tuckerbox Road is being treated as suspicious.

The RFS had this advice:

If you see an unattended fire or someone acting strangely, please don’t approach them but get all the details you can. For example, car colour, make, model, and rego number and accurate details of the person. Leave the immediate area and call 000.
