A six-hectare bushfire in hard to access country on Sugarloaf Rd near Tabulam was under control on Friday, December 23.

NSW Rural Fire Service Inspector Daniel Ainsworth said they didn’t know how the fire started and the cause was being investigated.

The Mallanganee and Tabulam RFS units were on patrol in rough country in the Captains Creek area, east of Tabulam, he said.

Inspector Ainsworth said they were watching the weather closely.

“Crews have put a control line around the fire,” he said.

“We hope to get some rain so we don’t have to be there on Christmas Day.”

Yesterday, Thursday, December 22, Mallanganee RFS wrote on their Facebook page – “We’re praying for rain so we are not out there Christmas Day.”
