Anyone who knows anything about working dogs, will know about Robert Johnston.
Robert won many national and local titles with his renowned working dogs that he trained at Tatham.
He was generous in sharing his knowledge of working dogs. Robert died in August 2022 but his name lives on with the Northern Rivers Veterinary Service Robert Johnston Memorial Dog Trial to be held at Primex this year.

T&W McCormack is running the dog trials at the Primex in Casino.
Auctioneer Jack Maloney said T&W McCormack had been toying with the idea of running a dog trial named after Robert for a while.
“It’s fitting to have it at Primex as it draws a lot of people,” Jack said.
Robert used to run working dog demonstrations at Primex field days and this year the feature novice event is named in his honour.
Jack and his fellow auctioneers will be doing the announcing at the working dog events across three days.
On Thursday, May 15, there are working dog demos at 9.30am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.
On Friday, May 16 is the Robert Johnston Memorial Dog Trial with 65 working dogs. There will be one round and then the final with a prize pool of $2000, semen collection and freeze prize.
The trials on Friday start at 7am and the final will at about 3pm.
On Saturday, May 17, there is the Joe Leven Demo at 9.30am followed by the Dog Sale Pre-works at 10am.
Then there’s another demo with Joe at 11.15am followed by a working dog sale at 1pm. There are eight quality working dogs for sale.
