Drivers trapped in their cars after head-on crash

Two cars collided on the Summerland Way at the Collins Creek Road intersection at New Park, near Kyogle at about 3pm today, Monday, February 5.

Emergency crews including Casino VRA Rescue Squad, Kyogle Fire and Rescue, ambulance and police rushed to the scene of the two car head-on crash. Both drivers were still in their cars.

Kyogle Fire and Rescue set up a tool dump and were working with paramedics setting up an extraction plan to get the drivers out.

VRA rescue operators assisted in the difficult extrication of the drivers. Police rescue operators arrived shortly after and worked together with the other agencies.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter and RFS also attended the scene along with multiple police units.

The driver of the second car was released without hydraulic rescue gear.

Both patients were taken to hospital for further treatment. The condition of the drivers is not known.
