Businesses and homes were impacted by a loss of power just after 5.15pm, yesterday Friday, July 26 with power not coming back on until midnight.
About 4000 homes and businesses across Woodburn, Evans Head, Broadwater, Coraki, Tuckurimba, New Italy, Doonbah, Bungawalbin were affected by the unplanned power outage.
An Essential Energy spokesperson said crews identified that a wire associated with a connection point on the overhead 66-kilovolt powerline at Wyrallah Road near Woodburn had failed.
Crews worked into the night completing repairs including patrolling the powerline between Lismore and Woodburn to identify the underlying cause.
Investigations continued today.
