
There was a yarding of 1030 head at the NRLX cattle sales today, Wednesday, October 9.
The market was generally firm although there were some quality related variation in prices at times.
Restocker weaner steers sold from 260c to 418c to average 373c to 378c/kg.
Restocker weaner heifers ranged from 210c to 294c/kg. Restocker and feeder yearling steers ranged from290c to 373c while yearling heifers sold to 304c/kg.
The yarding of export cattle consisted mainly of cows along with a few pens of grown steers and heifers.
An extra buyer in the market this week resulted in grown steers gaining 10c selling from 312c to 336c/kg.
Grown heifers sold to 319c/kg.
The cow market varied considerably throughout the sale ranging from firm to 10c easier, with some sales losing more in places.
Medium weight 2 score cows sold from 212c to 239c while 3 score medium weights averaged 259c and 4 score cows sold from 270c to 287c, while restocker cows sold to 256c/kg.
