Extra evac centres open as SES advise early evacuation decisions

Evacuation centres opened Wednesday, March 5.

On an online video to the community at 6pm today, Wednesday, March 5, the SES said it was expecting the situation to worsen as Cyclone Alfred comes closer to the coast.

For residents who live in areas of flash flooding and riverine flooding, the SES advised people to “make a decision to evacuate early.”

Families should have the conversation now about evacuation and not leave it until the last minute, SES said.
