Farmer rescues bogged fire truck

A fire truck got bogged last night as the crew tried to get water from a dam to extinguish a fire on the Bruxner Highway near Mallanganee.

At 11pm on Monday, September 12, Mallanganee RFS unit was called to the house fire just out of town.

Mummulgum, Tabulam, Casino RFS units and Casino Fire and Rescue came to help. Police, ambulance and Essential Energy also attended.

Local farmer Bill Hewetson came to the rescue of the bogged fire truck.

Fire and Rescue NSW said the house was completely destroyed and collapsed by the time they arrived.

The Casino brigade helped until more RFS units arrived before returning to Casino.
