At 8:36pm last night, Friday, November 19, the Casino Rescue Squad was called out to crash on Carwong Rd at Rappville.
On arrival they saw a car had smashed into a tree and a 61 year old man was trapped inside the car.
Police were told the Toyota Prado left the roadway and crashed into the tree.
The driver was treated at the scene by witnesses and emergency services but could not be revived.
Officers from Richmond Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
Rescue crews stayed on scene providing emergency lighting and assisting with other tasks alongside crews from Rappville RFS and NSW Police.
Crews returned to base seven hours later.
