An injured turtle on Broadwater Beach needed help.

The Evans Head Fire and Rescue crew have a motto of being prepared for anything – so there they were assisting the 350kg turtle on the beach near Evans Head on January 25 just before 2pm.

The crew helped staff from the Sea World Marine Park lift the turtle onto a spinal board, which they used as a sled to drag the large reptile along the beach and over sand dunes to a waiting recovery car.

The turtle has been transferred to Sea World’s veterinary hospital for specialist treatment.

For the FRNSW crew, it was another case of all’s shell that ends shell.
