The rain keeps falling, the rivers keep rising.

There is disbelief that we are flooding again, one month on from the worst floods people in the region had ever seen.

Sandra Aarts at the Woodburn Bakery as had to move the shop equipment again. The bakery had only been open for a week and a half.

With the Wilsons River breaking the levee in Lismore this morning, that water will flow to Coraki, Woodburn and Broadwater and down to Evans Head.

The Bureau Of Meteorology has issued a major flood warning along the Richmond River today.

Intense rainfall is expected to persist over the next several hours as a low-pressure system moves slowly to the south and west.

Renewed river level rises are expected during Wednesday with multiple bands of heavy rain affecting the Wilsons River and Richmond River catchments.

A major flood warning is current for the Wilsons River at Lismore.

The Richmond River at Wiangaree will see renewed river level rises, however, is likely to remain below the minor flood level (11m) during Wednesday.

The Richmond River at Kyogle may reach the minor flood level (12m) Wednesday night.

The Kyogle SES Unit is keeping an eye on the Wiangaree manual gauge. At 8am this morning it was at 6.2m and rising.

Local emergency management officer Tony Lickiss said the trigger was 9.75m. If the river reached that level evacuation was required and the Kyogle SES would inform the community.

Flooding is no longer expected at Casino

Intense rainfall rates overnight along with flood waters along the Richmond River combined with inflows from the Wilsons River has resulted in major flooding along the Richmond River at Coraki and Bungawalbin.

The timing of the flood peaks will depend on the duration of the intense rainfall.

Further heavy to intense rainfall is forecast over the next 12 to 24 hours which may result in further rapid river level rises and localised flash flooding.

A severe weather warning is current for the Northern Rivers .
