A former priest was in Kyogle Court today, Thursday, November 24 to face a charge of child sexual assault.
In November 2021, detectives began investigating reports that a boy aged 14 had been sexually abused at a church property in Mallanganee in 1982.
Following extensive inquiries, a man aged 74 was arrested at Casino Police Station last month.
He was charged with sexual assault – assault and act of indecency, sexual assault – of a person under 16 years.
Police will allege in court that the priest invited the boy to his house and sexually assaulted him.
