Almost 20,000 people will decide who the next mayor of Richmond Valley will be when they cast their vote at the council elections on September 14.
The population of Richmond Valley is about 23,500 according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and those eligible to vote (over 18) is 17,000-20,000 residents.
Current mayor Robert Mustow and mayoral candidate John Walker declared their run a few weeks ago.
Robert Hayes registered a few days ago and Lyndall Murray from Evans Head is a surprise announcement.
IndyNR.com does not expect any further mayoral candidates to step forward but we’ve been told the lists may not be fully processed by the Electoral Commission until 7pm tonight, Wednesday, August 14.
All four mayoral candidates are running on tickets.

All current Richmond Valley councillors are standing except for Patrick Deegan who is not.
