A familiar face was on the telly last night, Friday, June 9.
Kyogle comedian Odette Nettleton was a contestant on Mastermind on SBS.
Odette competed against three other contestants in a specialty subject – she chose the Mitford sisters – and in general knowledge.
“It was really exciting,” Odette said.
“I got a message request from one of the producers of the show. They had a time slot they needed to fill (the grand final is shown in prime time) where the normal weekly final would be held.
“One of them phoned me and asked if I’d like to be part of a special episode of former quiz show winners.”
She said yes.

There was only a week before Mastermind would be filmed so Odette chose the same special subject she used on Hard Quiz last year.
“I recycled the Mitford Sisters because most of the information was still in my brain,” she said.
Mastermind was filmed on Sydney in early March.
“I was nervous. Especially when I got to the studio and met the other contestants – they had won much more impressively than I had: there was a winner of Temptation and The Chase, the winner of the inaugural Mastermind season, and a gentleman who had won ‘a sizeable amount of money’ on Millionaire. Then there was me who had won Hard Quiz once,” Odette said.
Odette has been a contestant on The Chase too.
The filming experience was really positive and the crew were so friendly, Odette said.
“One producer said she had stalked me on Twitter and thought I was funny which was why they asked me to be there.
“Mark Fennell (the host) was just lovely, funny and nice and did his best to keep our nerves at bay.”

“It was a wonderful experience and I feel so lucky to have been included,” Odette said.
Odette came third on the night.
