Tell us about where you live and your family
I was born and raised in Kyogle. I am 28 years old and a fourth-generation resident of Kyogle.
I live in town and couldn’t ask for a better town to live in. I went to school at St Brigid’s Primary School and completed my high school years at Kyogle High School.
If you’ve been a councillor – what are you most proud of in your previous term?
One of my proud moments was becoming the youngest councillor elected to Kyogle council at the age of 23, giving youth a strong voice in council and showing by example that ‑ young people, if you put your mind to it, you can do it.
Second would be delivering at $200 million budget with only 12% coming from rates.
What do you bring to the role of councillor this election?
A young strong voice representing the diverse interests of the Kyogle Council area. I have relied on strong mentors and have matured into the role. I feel that during this term I will really hit my stride and deliver the outcomes my communities expect.
What brings you joy in life?
Family, fishing and camping but also knowing that I am serving my community to the best of my ability.
What difficulties does your community face?
Employment for youth and lack of housing are just two of the myriad of challenges we face. The systemic and ongoing underfunding of local government is always a challenge which means our council has to work harder to get our fair share of funding.
What is your job? What do you like/dislike about it?
I am store manager for Ampol retail. I really enjoy my job and the customers I see daily.
I’m a people person so I engage with community members.
Dare to dream – what is your vision for your region?
A healthy, vibrant, prosperous LGA, with good infrastructure and good services.
