Have your say on changes to consent in Private Native Forestry Plan

A sign on Deep Creek Road.

When landowners want to conduct private forestry operations on their land, they have to get consent from Local Land Services and Kyogle Council.

That could soon change as the State Government is asking the community what they prefer for planning proposals in the future.

Would you rather LLS be the sole consent authority on land zoned RU1- Primary Production and RU4-Primary Production Small Lots or do you prefer both council and LLS give permission?

If the planning proposal is approved and LLS becomes the sole consent authority for the Kyogle LGA, the requirements for landowners to ensure private native forestry operations do not cause adverse environmental impacts will remain unchanged.

The NSW Environmental Protection Agency would continue to monitor private native forestry operations to ensure compliance.

The council would collate the submissions received and forward them to the State Government for consideration and it is the State Government that would make the final decision.

Read more about the proposal here. It is on public display until 4pm, Friday, June 7.

Written submissions can be sent to the director of Planning and Community Development at PO Box 11, Kyogle, NSW, 2474 or emailed to council@kyogle.nsw.gov.au.
