VIDEO: Herding the cows in a kayak

When Lesley Garred was visiting her sister in Kyogle, she saw the cows were in danger of being stuck in floodwaters.

At the Omagh Rd property belonging to Lynda and David Croker, Lesley knew what she had to do to get the cattle to safety.

Out came the kayak.

“It’s the first time I’ve herded cows in a kayak,” she said.

The 25 heifers and 10 calves made it to safe ground.

Lesley said cows and people were “safe and sound”.

Her sister can be heard on the video calling Lesley a “legend”.
