Booked out: Community sessions on post-flood housing funding hit capacity

Susanna Freymark

UPDATE Monday, October 31 10.45am

The three community sessions at Lismore on Friday, November 4 are already booked out. There was a limit of 80 people for each session.

When you go to register online, the screen reads: No times in November.

It shows how keen residents are to hear about housing options.

IndyNR.com asked the Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation if it would hold more sessions as only 240 people could attend the November ones. A representative said more sessions were planned and information would be coming soon about the details.

Original story

Residents whose homes were impacted by the floods are having to make decisions about their homes – build back better, raise the house or move.

The Resilient Homes Program with its $800 million in state-federal funding was announced last week.

The Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation is charged with rolling out this funding and it will hold information sessions for the community about the program.

The sessions are on this Friday, November 4, at 120 Dalley Street, Lismore – enter via the car park off Military Road.

There are three sessions:

Session One: 10–10.45am

Session Two: noon–12.45pm

Session Three: 2–2.45pm

Each session is limited to 80 people.

Register for a session here.

There also sessions at Murwillumbah but none in smaller towns such as Coraki or Woodburn.

The Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation will have a stand at Primex in Casino from Thursday, November 10 through to Saturday, November 12.

Primex will be held at Richmond Valley Events Centre, Cassino Drive, Casino.
