The State Government is funding 140 projects across the state through the $8.65million Heritage Grants Program.
Tenterfield Shire Council gets $25,000 for a heritage advisor service and funds for small-scale local heritage projects for privately-owned listed items.
State MP Janelle Saffin said she was pleased that councils could give heritage protection a high priority in their planning assessment processes.
Tweed Shire Council also receives $25,000.
“Both shires boast buildings, landmarks and sites of historical and cultural significance, and are well worth preserving for future generations,” Ms Saffin said.
Casino and Kyogle have heritage and art deco buildings that could benefit from this program.
