It was brilliant – Beef Week thanks committee, sponsors and the community

This is part of a paid promotion for Beef Week.

That’s a wrap for Beef Week this year. The committee is still finalising numbers and reviewing Beef Week 2025 but Beef Week committee president Brody Lisha was extra pleased with how it went.

“It was brilliant,” Mr Lisha said.

He was especially thrilled about the record-breaking price for the Champion steer. Read more about that here.

The $50 a kilo price puts Casino Beef Week on the map, he said.

The crowds at Breakfast with the Butchers, a favourite community event, took everyone by surprise.

“We usually go through about 475kg of steaks and sausages,” Brody said.

This year they cooked up more than 525kg of meat.

Brody said they fired up the barbecues and started cooking early. By 8.30am, they were running out of meat.

Paul Allen asked Brody, “What do you want?”

Paul and Smith’s Butchery got more meat without any hesitation.

“Just goes to show how local businesses give back,” Brody said.

There are regulars who help cook at the Friday Breakfast with the Butchers.

Two of those people are Tilly Gava and Col Wooster. They clearly enjoyed cooking breakfast for the crowds and they’re in the main street every year helping out.

“They’re fantastic Beef Week helpers,” Brody said.

The committee were thrilled when Federal minister Andrew Chisholm announced $1million funding over the next three years. Read about that here.
