A landslide near the Highfield rail crossing bridge in Kyogle has taken out the water main that supplies the Highfield area and all areas south from there.

Council staff have been trying to repair the break but conditions are proving difficult and the situation may not be able to be resolved for some time.

Kyogle Council advised households and businesses to take measures to manage an extended interruption to their water supply.

This is difficult given shops are closed so getting bottled water from the supermarkets is out.

After hours and emergency number 6626 6800.
