Learn how you can get down to business by the sea

A business school has opened by the sea at Evans Head.

The Business School has set up a campus on the ground floor of the Evans Head RSL Club and is having an open day on May 10.

This means residents and potential students can see what the training agency is all about.

Business School director Wayne Carney set up his first business school in Melbourne in 2016.

“I’ve set up 150 colleges as a consultant,” Mr Carney said.

The school at Evans Head will take domestic and international students, he said.

The school offers nine qualifications and the courses are done face-to-face, online only or a blend of both and can be fulltime or part-time.

The courses include business, leadership and management, social media marketing, work health and safety and project management practice.

New courses are being added such as hospitality.

Being at Club Evans is an ideal place to train and teach, “the club has a staff and skill shortage,” Mr Carney said.

The Business School staff are executive assistant Kailie Hetherington, marketing co-ordinator Nikita Jackson and Shannon McDonald who is the admin assistant and student support.

“We’re all local,” Ms Hetherington said.

“We’ve been through the floods.

“We work with Wayne to bring hope to the community in rebuilding.”

This could include retraining for anyone who has had to close their business. It could also include learning about social media marketing to grow their business, Ms Hetherington said.

The headquarters for the business schools is in Sydney.

Mr Carney lives between Australia and Texas.

He said the school did corporate training and had a process for recognition of prior learning.
