Art with coffee is the go at Stray Espresso as the Evans Head café hosts its second art show next month.

Local artists Joseph Belford and Gretta Brown will have their artworks on display at the cafe on August 5 at 5-30-8pm.

Joseph’s striking landscape paintings and Gretta’s ceramic pieces will be in the cafe exhibition.

Joseph grew up 30 kilometres south of Evans Head on an isolated bush property in a house built by his father.

He went to Woodburn Primary School and then to Evans River K-12. Joseph has won prizes in the Bentley Art Prize and Coraki Art Prize.

In 2011 Joseph moved to Newcastle to study  architecture in Newcastle. He continued exhibiting his paintings in Newcastle, Sydney and the Northern Rivers.

Joseph has since returned to live and work in his hometown of Evans Head.

His architectural education with its strong focus on sense of place and his upbringing have had a significant bearing in his current paintings.

His landscapes are all based on scenes from the local region.

Gretta will be displaying her ceramic artworks alongside Joseph’s paintings.
