ROAD CLOSURES: M1 closes, fallen trees close section of Summerland Way

M1 and Summerland Way are closed because of weather conditions.

The M1 Pacific Motorway is closed between Chinderah and Ewingsdale because of the weather conditions.

Many local roads are already dangerous because of the rain Cyclone Alfred is bringing to the region.

Locals know the roads that flood first. Stay home and avoid these roads:

Richmond Valley

Coraki-Ellangowan Road – whole road closed as multiple trees down.

Motorists are advised the boom gates on Hare Street, Casino, are down. Traffic controllers are in place.

Tree over Bungawalbin Whiporie Road, Bungawalbin

Water over the road at Short Street, Casino

Water over Droneys Bridge Road, Fairy Hill

Water over the road at West Coraki, Springville Rd

Avenue Road at Ellangowan has water over the road

Even though Cyclone Alfred is moving slower than expected, communities still need to stay alert and not let their guard down.
