Football: Casino
The Casino Lions Australian Football Club won their first final ever today, Saturday, September 3 at Coffs Harbour.
Rugby league: Evans Head
It is history in the making for the Evans Head Bombers Rugby League Club when they play their first A Grade grand final at the Bilambil Sports Complex on Sunday, September 4.
The Bilambil Jets vs Evans Head Bombers match starts at 2.50pm.
Bombers club president Greg Bryant said it is the first final in the 23-year history of the club.
The club has organised two buses to take fans from Evans Head to Bilambil.
“There are 106 people on the buses and I’d say another 300 plus are going up in cars,” Greg said.
“People have been frothing to buy the Bombers merchandise.”
Bombers A Grade have played and beaten Bilambil this season, Greg said.
Shops in Evans Head have decorated their windows in Bombers colours, such is the excitement in town.
